Dyngus Day, a Polish/Ukranian tradition, is celebrated the Monday after Easter and is an old Eastern European rite of Spring and a celebration of the end of Lent . Celebrations include dancing, dousing loved ones with water and chasing them with pussy willows.
Dyngus Day is celebrated stateside in Buffalo, NY (www.dyngusday.com), Cleveland and other locales and has been celebrated in Washington, DC at the Biergartenhaus on H St NE (www.biergartenhaus.com) since 2017!
Dyngus Day DC features LIVE Polka, Polish food - Kielbasa, pierogies, Pazcki (Polish Doughnuts), Polish beer and dancing.
For one day only, the Biergarten Haus on H St NE will be turned into a Polish Villa with specials on Polish beer, Polish Platters... and live Polka from Baltimore's own, The TKO band! http://thetkoband.com/
